HyFive 2.0 Launch (August 6, 2025)
We are pleased to announce the release of HyFive 2.0, an advanced, research-rooted screening and valuation tool developed by the GeoH2 team at UT Austin's Bureau of Economic Geology. This upgrade reflects your feedback and our continued effort to bridge geoscience, engineering, and economics in hydrogen storage evaluation.

Screening Tool Enhancements:
- Updated GIS data (the latest EIA power plant data (2024))
- Layers include: Wind, Solar, NG, H2 Plants, Cement, Steel, Refueling, Salt Domes, Depleted Reservoirs
- Customizable market and geology preferences
- Export top-ranked locations as CSV or Excel

Cost & Valuation Tools Enhancements:
- Developed an integrated CAPEX modeling framework for drilling, pipelines, compression, and site development
- Expanded financial capabilities to include NPV, IRR, and break-even price analysis, enabling robust levelized cost assessments
- Newly added support for Variable OPEX (VarOPEX) alongside CAPEX to capture ongoing operational costs
- Incorporated sensitivity analysis of levelized cost to evaluate commercial viability under uncertainty and parameter variability.
